Planning for the Future of
Thank You to the Grantsburg Commumnity!
On April 5, 2022, voters approved a referendum for the Grantsburg School District. As a result, we are moving forward with the decommissioning of Nelson Primary School, expanding our existing elementary school, updating classrooms and common spaces at both the middle and high schools, repairing building systems, and creating a safer traffic flow around each of our schools.
This webpage will now feature ongoing updates these projects. Once again, THANK YOU for your support of the Grantsburg School District and the students we serve!
Following the approval of the facilities referendum in April, the design process began in earnest. A great deal of work goes into this process to ensure needs are being adequately addressed, the designs account for both current and future needs, and the designs provide the most value to the district within the project budget.
This process includes three phases to advance preliminary concepts developed prior to the referendum:
1. Schematic Design
Collaboration with the core planning team and district staff
Development of highly visual floor plans and building drawings
Defining how approved renovations/additions will function to best meet teaching and learning goals now and in the future
2. Design Development
Coordination with consultants and district staff for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems
Finalize details related to color schemes, fixtures, furniture, and materials
3. Construction Documents
Work on final stages of design for major components
Creation of detailed construction documents
Documents are used for public bidding with construction trades to various subcontractors and are referenced throughout the building process to bring the projects to life
